Fred Jay Seaver (1877-1970) was a mycologist whose specialty was the taxonomy of the Discomycetes. He began his career at the New York Botanical Garden in 1908 as Director of Laboratories and progressed up to Curator Emeritus. He was also editor of the journal Mycologia from 1909-1947.
